These 1000 Journals Say A Lot:
An Evening With Brian Singer
The 1000 Journals Project is a global art experiment. A thousand blank journals traveled the world, over 40 countries, to provide a method of interaction and shared creativity among friends and strangers. The concept: if you found one, you added to it — a story, photo, drawing, anything — and passed it on.
The journals have been covered in the New York Times, Communication Arts, Print and How. The project also spawned a book, a feature-length documentary and an exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Brian Singer, the project’s creator has given presentations on the project at Art Institute, IDEO, Creative Summit, Academy of Art and Portfolio Center. And he’s adding AIGA Raleigh to that list. Don’t miss it.

I am excited to attend the Raleigh event and hear about your overall thoughts on this project. I contributed to the first round of journals that went out in 2002 (My work is the last 3 spreads of journal #841). I never imagined that this project would be as famous as it has become, but I can see how we are all eager to express ourselves when no rules are given...very addicting. Great work. Contributing to the journal was very mind-freeing while working at the time for an agency with many constraints. I only wish I had signed up to contribute to more of them. Thanks, Brian. - Michelle Petrie
