Author and brand expert Alina Wheeler is coming to Raleigh on Thurs, April 25. The event will be held in Burns Auditorium on the NC State University College of Design campus.

If you haven’t yet registered, now is the perfect time. Register by April 14, and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win one of 10 AIGA Raleigh t-shirts.

AIGA Raleigh is proud to host Wheeler, who is the author of the bestselling book, Designing Brand Identity, now in its 4th edition. The book is a comprehensive and absolutely essential resource for anyone involved in any aspect of building a brand. Wheeler is also the author of Brand Atlas, a wonderful primer on brand strategies.

Copies of Designing Brand Identity are for sale now on our registration site, and will be distributed at the event. There will be a book signing immediately following the presentation. Only a limited number of copies will be for sale at the event—reserve your copy now.

T-shirt winners will be chosen by random drawing. Every individual registration prior to April 15 will be entered. Winners will be notified by email, and t-shirts will be distributed at the event only.

We want to send our sincere thanks to the NC State University College of Design for hosting the event in Burns Auditorium, and to our sponsors, Red Hat and our printing sponsors Duncan-Parnell and Spot On Graphix.

I could go on and on about Skillshare, but the real point is because of my AIGA membership I was able to utilize another resource to make me a well round creative person.

Letterpress and screen printing have been going through a renaissance, a movement that is clearly evident in Durham, North Carolina. In a world where digital work is easily accessed and distributed, it’s nice to see custom printing making a comeback with local artists and designers. Our November Homegrown highlighted four of those local artists.

Long story short, the AIGA Raleigh Studio Tour was awesome. I’m always on a bit of design-high after any AIGA event. It’s so inspiring to learn from other designers in the community and know that we can all call AIGA “home”.
