Special AIGA rate for The Art of Collaboration Oct 4-5 in Raleigh!

Today’s design projects often require a high level of collaboration among multi-disciplinary co-creators. What are the key ingredients in a successful design collaboration? What are the dynamics that can make—or break—a compelling design experience?

At the 2012 SEGD Exhibition & Experience Symposium—October 4-5 on the campus of NC State University College of Design–you’ll hear from some of the top designers, architects, media developers, and fabricators in the world about how their collaborations work, why they sometimes don’t, and how they pull together toward a unified purpose: elevating the user experience.

Here are just a few of the collaborators you’ll meet:

A special discounted registration rate of $250 is available for AIGA members!! To take advantage of this special offer, email jennette@segd.org.

The symposium includes an all-day program Friday, October 5, as well as a pre-symposium tour and reception on October 4. For a complete agenda, visit www.segd.org.

The Art of Collaboration is sponsored by 1220 Exhibits (Lead Sponsor) and Electrosonic (Patron).

About the Event:

Collaboration is a major force in design today, and an October 5 symposium at NC State College of Design will explore how multi-disciplinary design teams are creating inspired, engaging experiences for museum and exhibition visitors.”The Art of Collaboration” will gather designers, architects, media developers, fabricators, clients, educators, and students for a dialogue on best practices, effective processes, and collaborative successes and failures. Speakers include Kenneth Luker, AIA, The Freelon Group; NC State alumni and Pentagram Senior Design Director Susan May; and NC State Professor of Graphic Design Meredith Davis.

The symposium will launch with case studies of two Raleigh exhibition projects that benefitted from the art of collaboration: the Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State’s new Snøhetta-designed Hunt Library and the new Nature Research Center at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Anita R. Graham-Brown, Director of IEI, and Roy Campbell, Director of Exhibits and Emerging Media at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, will lead presentations with their project collaborators.

“The Art of Collaboration” is sponsored by SEGD (the Society for Environmental Graphic Design) in partnership with NC State College of Design. For more information or to register, visit www.segd.org
