Town Square

Town Square: your opportunity to meet fellow designers and professionals in the area. Your time to discuss topics and themes of your choice. Your chance to create your own community of design in North Carolina. It’s completely informal, 100% free, and best of all, YOU get to shape the dialogue of design in the Triangle area. Just look for this logo on a card held by the group’s leader at the locations below and you’re good to go!

Here are the group listings for December!
(subject to change, so check back in throughout the month for the most up-to-date info!)

Durham Freelancers
Meets the 2nd Thursday of each month
December 10, 7:00 pm, West End Wine Bar, Durham
Hosted by Michael Faber and Frankye Riley
ABOUT: As freelancers, the only criticism we often get on our work comes from our clients, our dogs, or our late-night-alter-ego that comes after too much Photoshopping into the early morning. Come out and join some of the Triangle's finest and bring some of your work for a group critique. All works are welcome, at any stage of the progress—bring some sketches of works in progress, roughed out compositions, or even a full-blown portfolio, and we'll have some good constructive conversation about design. No more "make the logo bigger" or "less white space" or "I think we need a lens flare"—just solid advice from people who know how to speak the language.

Raleigh Freelancers
Meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month
December 15, 11:00 am, Neomonde Deli, Raleigh
Hosted by Matt Muñoz and Kelty Brittle
ABOUT: Are you an entrepreneur by choice or circumstance? Join the Freelancer Town Square to share ideas related to running a business, forming client relationships, balancing short-term and long-term strategic goals, as well as any other relevant topic. Freelancers of all disciplines and all towns welcome. Bring ideas and questions!

Writer's Block Party
**This group has cancelled its December meeting due to the holidays. See you back in January!**
Meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month
January 19, 6:30 pm, The Raleigh Times Bar
Hosted by Toby Roan
ABOUT: Come share a few words about, well, words. We'll hoist a glass as we discuss writing in general, in-depth, in theory, or in relation to some project you're working on. Feel free to bring something you're proud of, stuck on, or stuck with. Writers and non-writers are welcome.

The Designer's Eye
**NEW REGULAR DATE**
Meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month
December 15, 7:00 pm, 221 N. Salem St., Suite 200, Downtown Apex
Hosted by Jason Rizzo
ABOUT: The creative process is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. What inspires you? Come share what inspires your creativity with others. Gather up your design books, movies, posters, people, and anything else, and bring them in to share. Questions? Contact Jason at cvision2@mac.com.

Developer Town Square

December 16, 7:00 pm, Cafe Carolina and Bakery at the Arboretum, Cary

Meets the final Wednesday of each month
January 27, 7:00 pm, Cafe Carolina and Bakery at Cameron Village
Hosted by Jon Harris and Ken Phipps
ABOUT: This group is devoted to all topics and issues related to interactive design. We'll discuss everything from shiny reflective Web 2.0 icons to the latest theories on activity-centered design. This group is meant for people of all levels of interest and experience. Come join us for all kinds of discussion, pastries, and general camaraderie.

Photographers

If there's a topic you want to discuss, start your own group! It's easy: we'll ask you to pick a topic, then you'll set up a location, time, and day each month where y ou'd like to meet. AIGA Raleigh will advertise it and anyone's invited to meet you there. All are welcome, member or non-member, student or professional. We'll be launching more groups in the coming months, so keep an eye on this page! See you around town!
