AIGA NC Triad: On our way!

The past couple of weeks played host to not one but two AIGA NC Triad Intro Events in both Greensboro and Winston-Salem. What we set out to do at these two events was to introduce our Triad creative community to what AIGA is and how a local chapter could help bring value to our area.

Our first event was held on the campus of NC A&T in Greensboro. Nearly 30 people attended to hear about our ideas for the local chapter. When the floor opened up to the audience there was a lively discussion about professional development and teaching designers, especially emerging ones, the confidence they need to negotiate contracts and have a seat at the table.

Our second event was held in Bibb’s BBQ’s Hickory Room in downtown Winston-Salem. We had over 40 attendees show up to hear our presentation. We got the same energy and enthusiasm from the crowd that we received from Greensboro. Both events showed us that our area is anxious and ready to start a local AIGA chapter and start providing programming and the support area creatives need.

In the next few months we’ll be starting the process for chapter creation as well as planning programming in the interim. We really believe in providing programming to our community while we’re going through the long process of starting a chapter and take advantage of the wealth of resources we have in the Triad.
