Let’s celebrate a hundred years of design together!
AIGA is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and our local chapter in Raleigh is taking part in the nationwide celebration. Join local designers, artists, and educators at the Busy Bee Café in Downtown Raleigh on September 10 at 7:00pm. Enjoy delicious appetizers and have a drink while you listen to local influencers reflect on the past, present, and future of design.
We look forward to hearing Hannah Tisson Shields, formerly the Curator of the City of Raleigh Museum, and currently the Curator of the Historical Resources and Museums Program in Raleigh’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources, discuss the architectural design history of the Raleigh region. We are thrilled to have David Burney of New Kind, one of the founding members of AIGA Raleigh and its former president, join us to talk about the early days of AIGA in our region. We are honored to have Meredith Davis, an AIGA medalist, Director of Graduate Programs in Graphic Design at the NC State College of Design, and a member of AIGA Visionary Design Council to define “The Designer of 2015,” share with us her vision of the future of design profession.
If you are an AIGA Member, bring a guest at the member price. Get an extra ticket for a companion, and let’s party! If you are not an AIGA member, we welcome you as a Future Member!
Included in your ticket is the signature cocktail*, designed specifically for our celebration, and an array of hearty appetizers. A fully stocked cash bar will be available all evening.
As part of the AIGA Centennial Poster Tour, we will be showing posters that will be selected from among designs submitted to celebrate the last hundred years of design in the Triangle. The posters depict events that happened in the Triangle in the last ten decades. All submissions will be featured on AIGA Raleigh website and social media.
