The AIGA Raleigh August 2019 Community Meeting with a focus on Design Ethics, Intellectual Property, and Copyright/Trademarks.
Welcome back AIGA Raleigh Community. We took off the month of June and July to recharge but also get down to business and start planning the next 6 months of content and events. We've got some great content coming and we are excited to share it with you over the next few months.
For August, our Community Meeting will cover a topic that a lot of you have asked us for content on. Trademark, Copyright, Intellectual Properties and the overall legalities of branding, design and sharing content as it relates to our industry. We will have a panel discussion answering your questions to hopefully clear up any myths and empower you all with the right information and tool moving forward.
Our panel will consist of:
Ed Timberlake :: Timberlake Law
Ed Timberlake is a former Trademark Examining Attorney at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, former Copyright Examiner at the U.S. Copyright Office, and Board Certified Specialist in Trademark Law. He focuses entirely on trademarks & copyrights, primarily providing advice, preparing & filing applications, and maintaining registrations.
Brandon Huffman :: Odin Law & Media
Brandon is an attorney focused on representing technology and media clients in business, intellectual property, content clearance, privacy, commercial contracts, employment, and internet regulatory matters. Why? Because of a passion for creativity and technology. Brandon is a so-so visual artist, a lousy programmer, and a pretty-okay film editor, but he is a great lawyer.
Devon White :: Wyrick Robbins
Devon leads the firm's IP Prosecution & Protection practice group. Her practice focuses on domestic and international trademark protection and branding strategies.
Jose Ciceraro :: Senior UI Artist at Insomniac Games, Illustrative Designer
Senior UI Artist for gaming and mobile devices. Jose considers myself more of an illustrative designer. He loves to incorporate custom bits of illustration into his graphics, conceptual art, and interfaces. Making art is awesome!
