The B-Side : What We Learned the Hard Way

The B-Side:

Many designers and other creative professionals fantasize about owning their own business, but the process of starting and running a profitable creative business can seem confusing or intimidating. Our B-Side programming is designed to demystify the business side of creativity with a series of presentations from local industry leaders on creating a business entity; handling finances, accounting, and taxes; writing estimates, contracts, and creative briefs; project management; client relationships; and self-promotion/marketing.

What We Learned the Hard Way

August 17th // 6:30–8:00 p.m. // Meredith College
Art History Lecture Hall//Gaddy-Hamrick Art Center

Please join us for our B-side finale, more to come in 2017!  For our grand finale join Woody Holliman as he moderates a panel discussion between 5 owners of local design agencies to sharing their personal stories about starting and running a creative business—the challenges, the rewards, as well as the unforeseen disasters.

They will discuss what inspired them to start their companies, strategies they used to keep clients happy, and things they wish they knew before they decided to open thier business. If you have ever thought about being a creative entrepreneur or if you are one, this is a great opportunity to hear from creatives who have been there and done that.
