“Our industry may be digitally driven but ideas are still best developed in analog form.”
This quote has been ringing in my head for sometime now. Okay, honest design confession time: The further I get from my very hands on and creative design education, the more tempting it becomes to just go straight to the computer and start there. But when I work this way I often find myself staring at the computer, wondering why the ideas aren’t coming like they used to. It makes me want to pull my hair out and go sell clothes at the Gap or something. Know what I mean?
Enter Von Glitschka…a few months ago I ran across his “Illustrative Designer” presentation at the HOW conference from 2008. It was funny, entertaining and most of all informative. Von has honed his creative process over years of crafting original and highly creative design solutions to solve his clients business problems. What’s even better is his generosity on top of that. He’s more than willing to share his process with any designers who will listen. When I emailed him to see if he’d speak to our chapter, he responded in just a few hours with a resounding YES!
We are so excited to have Von come and speak at 2 events next weekend. He will be presenting his “Drawsigner” talk (formerly Illustrative Design) on Friday night, March 25 at 7pm. Then he will be giving a hands on workshop featuring techniques from his new book, Vector Basic Training on Saturday morning, March 26 from 9-12noon.
All attendees of the lecture or workshop will receive a 30% coupon to purchase Vector Basic Training.
Hope to see you there!
