This month is the first in our new quarterly Dine and Draw schedule with expanded content to have them really pack a punch. And what a first month we have in store. Illustrator Jose CIceraro will be talking about, teaching and inspiring all about character creation! Blow the doors on your imagination wide open and create your very own characters! Jose will be covering:

• Character design techniques (Shape language, posture, balance)
• Pushing characters (being aware of structure in order to mess with proportions, the ladder technique)
• Drawing with shape vs. drawing with line
• Form (helping your characters live in 3D space)
• Thinking in 3D for your 2D drawings (how things wrap and conform to your drawings)
• Character design sketching exercises ( gray markers and blob sketching)

Wait... It costs now?
Unfortunately, we have had a lot of no-shows over the last few months and the amount of work that goes into even free events like Dine and Draw from the planning to the time and efforts of our guests dictated that we needed to charge a small fee to cover some expenses. Additionally, our host locations have never charged us for the use of their space, and when we reserve 20 or 30 seats we want to make sure those seats are filled, and we show the respect these fine establishments deserve for opening their doors to us. So starting in Jan 2017 Dine and Draw will be moving to a quarterly event but packed with even more content and takeaways to get you inspired!

So what is this Dine & Draw thing?
Simply put it is just a social gather of people who want to get back in touch or stay in touch with what led us to creative careers in the first place. Drawing. As kids, we all drew pictures. Some of us carried on into adulthood and some of us stopped. We all need to get back in touch with that side of us. You simply will not do your best work on a computer if you do not spend time with pencil and paper. 

What should I bring?
Bring yourself, your favorite supplies and your winning personality! 

I CAN'T DRAW!
YES YOU CAN! You just DON'T DRAW. This is a learned skill. SO come out, drop your guard a little and have FUN. It's all about fun. Not perfection, not fine art.
