An Introduction to Inclusive Design

AIGA Raleigh's Director of Inclusive Design, Alexandra Dean Grossi, will start the series with a presentation of what it means to design for inclusion, especially in the case when designing for users with disabilities.

This lecture will cover the basics of designing for disability and give you the tools you need to start designing for inclusion. We will go over:

  • The persona spectrum of persons with disabilities (PWDs) both in a general manner as well as the spectrum that exists within each disability.
  • The proper language for talking about disability.
  • Ways of approaching design for inclusion.
  • How you can act as an advocate.

We will have a Q&A and, if time permits, we will do an empathy-building exercise.

This is the first in a series of events about what it means to design for inclusion and accessibility.

If you have any questions, please contact Alexandra Grossi at alexandra.grossi@raleigh.aiga.org.
